Redesign and Home Staging Strategies for Selling Houses

by Jeanette Fisher

Redesign, a fancy term for a home makeover, helps home sellers get top price for their houses. Before you decide to redesign your home to get it ready for sale, you need to understand a few marketing strategies.

First, who will buy your home? Think about the ultimate buyer who will pay you what you deserve for your property. Who lives in your neighborhood? Home owners or a majority of tenants? Selling to real estate investors who want rentals means that you won't want to bother with too many changes because they buy at rock-bottom prices and do the fix-up themselves. On the other hand, if your neighbors mostly own their homes, you can estimate your potential buyer based on their general income level. Upscale buyers demand the latest amenities and choose houses that not only shine but sparkle with features.

Perhaps you have a unique home. like our seven bedroom Queen Anne Victorian in Palatka, Florida. We listed this home with a national real estate company who advertised the property as a potential bed and breakfast. Before we could sell this house, we had to get permission from the city for a bed and breakfast.

After you determine your potential buyer, you can decide how to get your home ready for sale. Read about the basics of getting homes for sale Sell Your Home for Top Dollar--FAST!
